Ceramics for Use
Any kind of ceramic pieces such as jars, bottles, vases.
vessels. plates. and the like, which are
actually unctional, and those ceramic pieces which from
artistic and industrial viewpoints, can
contribute to the development of ceramics and ceramic
designs.
i.e.) Vessels for traditional Korean food and Western
food, tea sets, coffee sets, tableware, tiles,
lighting pieces, vases, jewelry, stoneware, decorative
roof tiles, and small accessories Ceramics
as Expression
Non-functional ceramic works such as ceramic sculptures
and ceramic installation works.
* No restriction in size. Each individual or group may
submit up to three entries
* If an applicant dose not specify the category of his/her
piece or specifies the category
incorrectly, the jury reserves the right to assign the
piece to the category it deems appropriate
after consultation in the jury committee |

None
There is no specific required subject or theme for entries
to the Competition. The entries should
show free and fresh ideas, and the creativity of the artists.
The works should be original in
concept so that they may contribute to the development
of the ceramic industry and ceramic arts. |

The official language of the 2nd World Ceramic Biennale
2003 Korea(CEBIKO) International
Competition shall be Korean and English. |

Grand
Prize(1) Cash prize of 30 million won ( US $23,000)plus
a scholarship worth 10 million
won ( US $7,600)
Gold(2) 10 million won each
Silver(4) 5 million won each

- All winning entries except Selected Awards
shall become the property of the WOCEF.
Taxes are included in all cash prizes.
- WOCEF reserves the right to reproduce all winning entries,
including the Selected Awards, in
video/CD recordings, catalogues, photo, publications,
and exhibitions.
- One copy of the exhibition catalogue, 'The 2nd World
Ceramic Biennale 2003 Korea(CEBIKO)
International Competition' shall be given to the aritist(s)
of each winning piece.
- The Grand prizewinner should submit to WOCEF a plan
for future study trip and a report on the
result of the trip. |

Preliminary Slide Selection
Application Period : Jan. 13 ~ Feb. 7, 2003
* All entries should be mailed to WOCEF by no later than
Feb. 7, 2003
* An application form for each category, including one
color photo(3x5 inch) attached to the
description of the work and two 35mm slides(taken from
different angles) mounted on paper or
plastic should be submitted to
WOCEF
* Application Fee : Fee waived for entires from overseas
Final Selection Based on Examination
of Actual Works
Application Period :
Entry from Korea: May 28 ~ May 30, 2003
Entry from Overseas: May 15 ~June 5, 2003
Those who receive notification of the preliminary selection
should submit their artworks,
instruction for proper display of their work, and a statement
on their work's physical condition. |

Preliminary Slide Selection
Screening Period: Feb. 25 ~ Feb. 28, 2003
Announcement: Mar. 6, 2003 Final Selection
Screening Period: June 24 ~ June 27, 2003

- Winners shall be notified individually and announced
on the WOCEF website and in daily
newspapers.
- The selection period may be a subject to change.
There shall be five jurors, two Koreans and three foreign
nationals. The same jury shall conduct
the preliminary slide selection and the final selection
based on examination of the actual art
works for both categories; Ceramics for Use and Ceramics
as Expression |

Award Ceremony: Aug. 31, 2003
Exhibition Period: Sept. 1 ~ Oct. 30, 2003
Venue: Icheon World Ceramic Center
- The award ceremony shall be held on the eve of the Opening
Day of the Biennale.
- The winner of Grand Prize should be in attendance. WOCEF
shall bear the expenses to bring
the Grand prizewinner to Korea. |

Entries from Korea
The applicant shall be responsible for shipping artwork
for the final selection. WOCEF is not
responsible for any damages to artworks during shipping
to and from the WOCEF office. In order
to prevent damages that may occur in shipping, the applicant
him/herself should make sure that
the artwork are packed securely. Entries
from Overseas
The applicant shall be responsible for shipping the works
for final selection. WOCEF will be
responsible for returning the artwork to each applicant
after exhibition. Door-to-Door(nail to nail)
delivery service shall be used.
If the artwork arrives at an airport or seaport in Korea,
all expenses to ship the artwork WOCEF
from the airport or seaport shall be borne by the applicant.
- Door-to-Door delivery service is delivery from the place
of departure to the where entries
should be received.
WOCEF is not responsible for damage to artworks during
shipping to the WOCEF office, in order
to prevent damages that may occur during shipping, the
applicant him/herself should make sure
that the artworks are packed securely.
- Secure packing of artworks
i. For safe delivery of your artwork, wrap each piece
in bubble wrap and use wooden crates
filled with either sponge or styrofoam.
ii. The mailing label provided by WOCEF should be attached
on top of the crate.
iii. Please fill in the Condition Report and have it enclosed
with the artwork when submitted.
Details will be notified to applicants who pass the preliminary
slide selection. |

Entries from Overseas
Applicants should insure their artwork for the period
specified by WOCEF. WOCEF is not
responsible for any problems of which may arise because
an applicant did not carry insurance.
When an applicant dose not provide an insurance value
of his/her entry, WOCEF may decide the
insurance value at its discreet for smooth insurance process.
However, this insurance value
does not mean the appraised value of an artwork in question.
Purchasing Insurance
- Duration of insurance: Date of shipment to Korea to
date of receipt in Korea.
- Term when applicant bears cost of insurance: Date of
shipment to Korea to June 15, 2003
- Term when WOCEF bears cost of insurance: From June 15
to the date of receipt of artwork by
artist outside of Korea.
- If artwork is damaged in part while en route to Korea,
WOCEF will consult the applicant on
whether the artwork will be exhibited or not. The final
decision will be made by WOCEF.
In this case, the person(s)
responsible for damages will be identified, and WOCEF
shall then affect repairs to the artwork. |

Documents received shall under no circumstances
be returned to applicants.
If the submitted artworks prove not to be identical to
the slides, the entry will be disqualified.
Previously exhibited work or non-original works shall
be disqualified as well.
Slides and artwork should be delivered no later than the
deadline to WOCEF, and those arriving
after the deadline will be disqualified from the selection.
All the selected entries from preliminary slides selection
will be exhibited, and prize winners
will be selected in the final selection.
WOCEF is responsible for the presentation of artworks
and all related matters of the exhibition.
Artwork may not be removed or returned during the exhibition.
Other unstated matters shall be decided upon by the deliberation
of the jury and WOCEF. |
