The 2nd World Ceramic
Biennale 2003 Korea(CEBIKO) International
Competition will be held in Icheon,
Gyeonggi Province, the ocation of the
1st World Ceramic Biennale 2001 Korea
for 60 days from ep.
1 to Oct. 2003. The purpose of the 2nd
World Ceramic Biennale is
to educate the public about the trends
of contemporary ceramic
arts, to foster the development of ceramic
culture in the 21st
century, and to present the vision of
the future of ceramic arts.
The 2nd CEBIKO International Ceramic
Competition will be a
festival of ceramic culture. |
CEBIKO was inaugurated
in 2001 with the objectives of upholding
the great traditions of the World Ceramic
Exposition 2001 Korea(WOCEK).
The World Ceramic Exposition 2001 Korea
was held in the three cities of Icheon,
Yeoju and Gwangju for 80 days from August
to October 2001. It attracted more than
six million visitors from 84 countries.

The World Ceramic
Exposition Foundation(WOCEF) is preparing
to make another leap. It seeks to provide
an opportunity for ceramic lovers the world
over to experience true ceramic culture
once again.
The 2nd World Ceramic Biennale 2003 Korea(CEBIKO)
will include International Competition, Special
Exhibitions, International Ceramic Symposium,
and International Ceramic Workshop.
It will serve as an opportunity for all of
us to confirm the potential and future value
of 'ceramics', products of art, culture, history,
and science.
WOCEK invite all potters and ceramic artists
from all corners of the globe to participate
in the 2nd World Ceramic Biennale 2003 Korea(CEBIKO)
International Competition. You will discover
new values in ceramic arts and see the future
of ceramic arts at the 2nd CEBIKO International
Competition. Ceramic artists and ceramic lovers
will come together with enthusiasm, energy,
ambition, and the spirit of challenge.
The main event of the Biennale is the 2nd
International Competition. This is where ceramic
artists will compete in the realm of creativity.
As was the case in the first competition in
2001, participants are invited to apply in
two categories: 'Ceramics for Use-Functional'
and 'Ceramics as Expression-Non-Functional.'
Ceramic experts from each continent will serve
as jurors. The cash prizes that will be awarded
are the highest in any such competition by
global standards. These generous cash prizes
are meant to support those ceramic artists
who have the greatest potential and talent
and to foster their creativity. WOCEF wishes
to contribute to the development of the ceramic
arts of the world through this competition
in every way in can.
We expect full participation from creative
and talented ceramic artist in the 2nd International
Competition of CEBIKO. It will open a new
horizon to ceramic art in the 21st century.
